Ireland has the most critical stance toward Israel among EU members. Ireland recognized the State of Palestine in 2024, and Irish public opinion is strongly pro-Palestinian. While Ireland would condemn Iranian missile attacks as a violation of international law, it would likely frame this in terms of de-escalation, calling on all parties to cease hostilities, and would avoid language that supports Israeli military operations. Ireland is militarily neutral (non-NATO). Note: Higgins' presidential term may have ended by 2026.
